Here is my mood board is consists of themes, images and colours with will include in my magazine to give off the impression of a rap based magazine.

On the left hand side is my layout for my front cover and on the right is for the double page spread.  Both these layouts will include a group of teenage boys filling the epitome of the genre of rap.

Below are the brief sketches for my layout of how my front cover and double page spread shall be laid out and presented on photoshop, I wanted these two pages to look clear and neat whilst at the same time looking exiting.

Fonts:

These are the fronts which I am using throughout my magazine, all four of these fonts resemble a different sub genre of grime as some as more casual than others.

Colour Schemes:

My colour scheme consists of black, red and yellow, the main colour are red and yellow as they are bright and catch peoples eyes with black being the main background colour.

Legal Issues:

Copyright= Copyright is the name given for information being used when it is either copied and stolen from someone else, therefore they have taken their original ideas and included them in your own product.  This would relate to my magazine if we copyrighted one of their unique and original ideas such as their text and fonts for one of our products. The resolution for this would be to do research before choosing your fonts and make sure no other company has used the fonts before printing the final copies. If this did happen changing your chosen fonts to something else would also be another resolution.

Confidentiality= When information being mentioned to you is private and confidential therefore making sure you don’t repeat peoples information to others as it is confidential.  For instance, an agreement between two people. This would relate to my magazine as we are receiving quotes and writing interviews to understand peoples point of view about the genre of rap. Due to this the sources would like their personal details confidential.  As well as discussing someone else and making sure they are not breaking any code of conduct or confidentiality.  The resolution for this would be to make sure that their name has not been mentioned and that the quotes used are unidentified making sure that what they are saying is not breaking confidentiality and the laws of GDPR.

Fact Checking= Making sure that the information used is accurate and non fictional. This ensures the readers will be reading accurate information about the artists they are interested in. An example of this relating it to my magazine is when we are writing a segment about a rap based artist.  We need to make sure the information being used is accurate and true. Including fictional information about the artist would give a negative impact to the magazine and could be a possible reason  readers would not buy the magazine in the future.  A possible resolution would be to find a credible source to get the information from, not just Wikipedia or Google.  As these are general search engines that the general public use to upload information from so could therefore give you fake or false information about the rap artist.

Defamation Act= The purpose of this is to make sure that the facts and information which someone is telling which you are writing down are word for word accurate to what they have said. This is because you are not allowed to miswrite and misinterpret what someone has said as it could cause complications.  This is relevant to my magazine as when writing information which someone has mentioned, you have to write exactly as they have said it.  If there are any complications with this a resolution is to bring in a recording device such as a tape recorder so therefore you wouldn’t misinterpret what they have said and therefore wouldn’t be any misrepresentations.

Trademarks= The illegal use of trademarks is likely to cause confusion, deception, or mistake about the source of goods. Businesses often allow the use of trademarks which is in their knowledge as it is a common way to get their business promoted, the issue with this which would link into my magazine is if a company stole our magazine trademarks for their own benefits without us knowing.  A resolution for this is to be aware of any misconceptions of companies stealing your trademarks and to be in close contact with then if this did happen.

Ethical Issues:

Inappropriate Content= By using inappropriate words or images it could upset some readers and could cause the inappropriate content to my magazine as by using inappropriate content it would automatically affect the primary target audience of 16-22 year olds.  A resolution for this would be to make sure when producing the magazine no inappropriate content is used and that the magazine produced is age appropriate.

Bias= Some of the articles could be bias or against the subject and seen from a one sided point of view.  This is relevant to my magazine as for instance if we only included one opinion about the genre of rap and did not give a comparison to it. To continue if this opinion was only towards the genre of rap it would be seen as bias as we are only mentioning positive aspects.  A resolution would be to include multiple opinions about the genre of rap which contrast against one another, to make sure the magazine was not seen as bias.

Discriminatory Language= By using language which would offend or exclude people just because of age, race and genre is discriminatory language.  This links into my magazine as because it is a rap based magazine and as a result of this there will be many races and ages involved throughout the magazine. I will need to ensure that there would be no discriminators language used.  We would resolve this by ensuring everyone is shown in the same way so that no negative comments were made.

Emotional Well-being of the subjects= Another ethical issue is making sure the subjects well-being is ok, by allowing them contribute in the magazine you are responsible for their well-being and therefore may be affected therefore this would affect my magazine as it would be seen in a negative light as well as receiving judgment from this.  A resolution would be when choosing the models for the front cover and double page spreads to make sure the models well-being is alright or being able to provide help for them.

Typical Stereotypes= When printing the front and double page spread another ethical issue which my magazine might encounter would be the typical stereotypes.  This would affect my magazine as in “wrapped up” we are trying to continue what people subconsciously think about the genre of rap. Therefore we would focus on dark skinned people wearing branded clothing.  We are trying to continue the idea about stereotypes as this is what people have been bought up knowing about the genre of rap.  The issue with this is people might think “wrapped up” is a narrow minded magazine only focusing on the past.  We would resolve this by giving our front cover its own unique twist so even though it’s stereotypically what people think its unique in its own way and as a result of this would have its own unique selling point.

Risk Assessments: 

A Risk Assessment is the explanation of what causes harm on someone or something specific and what measures may be taken to prevent this harm from taking place. 

One of the risks which my model may have encountered when doing the photoshoot could be tripping over objects and injuring themselves.  This is not a very high risk as you can easily prevent this, by making sure your surroundings are clear as well as repairing or removing any surrounding objects which could lead to injury. As well as that it would also have a low risk due to the fact that tripping over isn’t the first risk that you would imaging when thinking about this photoshoot.

 Another risk which the model may encounter could be the crowd looking and making comments, resulting in violence and threatening language which the model would have to listen to.  This would have a high risk as this would damage the models confidence as well as violence being self demonising and counts as abusive behaviour.   The only way they are able to overcome this is by contacting local authorities or to take the images in a 

different neighbourhood, one which may be preferably more welcoming and friendly.  

Moreover, another issue which may occur and affect the model could be the poor lighting which may cause the model to fall. This could  be prevented by adding more lighting or by taking these photos in the day.  As well as that this would have a medium to high risk as it is quite possible that the photographer would want these photographs to be taken at night therefore, they need to make sure there is sufficient lighting. 

Loosing the equipment would also count as a low risk due to the fact that the equipment may be insured, this doesn’t personally affect the model therefore isn’t a major risk.
